visual aid

On Saturday the 30th of January 2021, we distributed 16 out of 20 sticks to visually impaired people in Kibera. This was phase 1 of our visual aid project. We had a good turn out and have met potential future beneficiaries for phase 2 of our project. Some of the beneficiaries were on the list we had initially but some were new. This happened as a result of some beneficiaries not showing up while others in need came upon hearing of our project.

We realized that the small sized canes are too small for adults and that most adults preferred the large canes (even those of average height). In future phases of our project, we intend to request more of the large sized canes. We initially requested 11 medium canes, 5 large canes and 4 small ones. We were not able to distribute any of the small ones and some of our beneficiaries who got the medium canes complained. As a result, we have 4 small canes to give back and we hope we can get additional large canes for the beneficiaries who complained about the medium sized canes we gave them

On 20th of March 2021 we carried out phase 2 of our visual aid project. We managed to distribute 39 large white canes in total. 34 of them in Dandora and 5 of them to Kibera.

Both Phases we were able to distribute a total of 55 walking sticks. We thank Ayudh.ke partnering with us on this project.
