#GIFTASMILE EID PROJECT

The Eid project was commissioned during the last ten days of Ramadhan by the management of the organization. We started fundraising by using the strategy of gifting a smile to the orphans during Eid by selling branded masks. The proceeds went fully into buying gifts for the orphans.

We had 141 orphans in total that were gifted from this initiative. 85 of them were from Mama Fatuma Children’s Home in Eastleigh, 50 of them were from Al Nur Madrassah from Kibera, 4 from a family in South B and 2 of them from Parklands. The gift items were based on age and gender. Members of the organization carefully sorted them out in every bag on the day of distribution. The gifts included; a dessert box with confectionaries, stationeries, toys, scarf/hat and juice boxes.

We started our journey with 10 Members and 2 Volunteers after we attained the approvals for both locations.  We started with Mama Fatuma Children’s Home in the morning where we spent most of our time gifting, interacting and playing with the kids. Thereafter we headed to the Madrassah in Kibera where we found them having prepared lunch for us. We ate, interacted and played with the orphans after which The Al Nur Madrassah gifted us as JAOR a cake. We cut the cake in slices and every member and volunteer had the opportunity to feed the orphans.

This was our most enlightening project as we were able to interact with over 100 orphans in a span of one day. We are forever grateful to our donors and supporters for helping make this project a success. We hope to work with you in the future to #giftasmile.
