We commenced the Gift A Smile Project by raising funds for the packages. The main strategy was social media, circulating a poster, and mainly posting on Instagram. The proceeds went fully into buying gifts for the orphans. On the 11th of May 2021, members lead by the Project Manager procured items for the gift bags. This included:

On the 12th of May 2021, the gifts were packed and sorted. On the 14th of May, 24 gift bags were distributed to Al- Nisaa Children’s Home in Karen.
On the 15th of May, we went to Mama Fatuma Children’s Home in Eastleigh where we gifted 79 orphans. We spent some quality time with them during the gifting by blowing balloons, taking pictures, running around with them all in remembrance to them that it was a celebration day and that they were not alone. We then proceeded to Al-Nur Madrasa with 50 gift bags to distribute, however, the children were much more, thankfully we had the snacks in surplus so we added more bags to make sure no child left without a gift bag, we added 44 more bags, they had a few items missing but ensured every child received a bag.
We ate lunch with the children and made sure everyone had eaten to their satisfaction, there was no better way to end the day than finishing it off with cutting multiple cakes to celebrate eid. Ustadha Arafah on behalf of the Madrassa gifted the organization with a cake, it was well appreciated and we enjoyed it together.
This Ramadhan we were fortunate enough to provide a total of 275 hot meals courtesy of Khans Food. We started with 65 hot meals to Mama Fatuma Children’s Home on the 29th of April 2021, then on the 6th of May, the kids in Al-Nur Madrasa in Kibera received 75 hot meals for Iftaar. For Eid, Khans Food provided 160 hot meals, 80 going to Mama Fatuma and another 80 going to an Orphanage in Kariobangi.
2021 had many challenges, but Alhamdulillah, we were able to gift almost 200 orphans and spend the day with them. Provide 275 hot meals for Iftaar to 3 Orphanages courtesy of Khans Food.
